Gus - 5 year old, 16hh gelding

Gus genuinely has one of the best temperaments you could ask for — fun, safe, talented and a much-loved family member who can turn his hand to almost anything.

A robust 15.3/16hh, 5-year-old Connemara, Gus is handsome, light on his feet and has huge presence. He has been owned and produced by the same family since he was a 2-year-old, making this a very difficult decision as they look for the right person to take him into his next chapter.

He has lovely, light, forward and very comfortable paces, along with plenty of scope over a fence.

Cross-country, he is confident with banks, ditches and water, and showjumping he is happily tackling water trays, planks, fillers and other questions.

Gus has already started his competitive career with plenty of promise, jumping double clears at 80cm and 90cm. He also spent last season hunting, where he proved to be the perfect gentleman.

He hacks alone, is ridden in a snaffle at all times, behaves well at events, and is good to load and travel.

His sire, The Son of a Builder, is a highly regarded Class 1 registered Connemara stallion, born in 2005 and widely recognised for his performance and jumping ability. On the dam’s side, Gus also carries Black Shadow and Silver Shadow, giving him an exceptional pedigree.

Despite his ability, Gus’s biggest asset is his temperament. He will look after a rider regardless of ability, has the kindest, most willing attitude to life and is equally capable of stepping up to a competitive level when asked.

He has all the makings of a lovely eventer, hunter or all-round hero.
