A pony who needs no introduction and has proven himself consistently as a top Pony Trial Pony. Sonny ( Battlestown Delight) has won his past two CCIP2*L’s one of which was the British Pony Championships where he led from the start with a 22.2 DR.
At 10 this year, he is one of the top, most talented ponies in both the national and international circuits having won 2/3 of his trials this year ( one with a 12 point lead) and earning a team silver medal for GB in the 2025 Pony Europeans. Sonny was first longlisted for the Europeans in 2024 with me but his stablemate was taken as at the time, Benny was more ready for Championship Level. Sonny went in 2025 and he was longlisted for the up and coming Pony Europeans in Le Mans this summer. However, as I was also longlisted for Juniors, I have decided this year to aim for the Juniors with my horse .
Alongside these results he has won at 1.20/1.25 Junior BS and was clear Xc inside the time with just one pole in the very competitive 2*Junior at Cornbury in September 2024 . These are just a few highlights of his incredibly impressive career so far and I have no doubt that he could easily go on to win individual medals in the future with the right jockey. He is widely thought to have this ability with his excellent paces , scopey jump and ground covering gallop.
He is adored by everyone who knows him and never puts a foot wrong. Not only does he have incredible paces with his dressage now almost always in the low to mid 20s , he is now a very straightforward and confidence giving ride xc which is proven by his almost spotless record.
It is worth noting, he is also a great step before horses due to his larger movement and jumping ability.
Sonny is a true European Championship Pony and will only only go to a top home.
