Romeo - I Love You Melody Schoolmaster

Heartbreakingly, the time has come to find Romeo his next home.

Romeo is a very special 10-year-old, 15.1hh Connemara gelding by I Love You Melody. We have owned him since he was four, and he has been a huge part of our family for the past six years.

My daughter has ridden him from the age of nine through to fifteen, and he has taught her an enormous amount along the way.

Romeo has a fantastic record through Pony Club and competition, including:

• Pony Club Area Show Jumping winner for the last three years running
• NSEA 100/105 Arena Eventing Qualifier winner this year
• Successfully show jumped BS up to Discovery level, very rarely coming home without a red ribbon
• Successfully evented BE up to 90
• Consistently scores in the low 30s in BE dressage

Show jumping is absolutely his favourite thing. He knows his job, is clever and careful in the ring, and will happily jump from 60cm up to 1m.

He is not sharp, whizzy or strong. He is much more of a confidence-giving type, with a sensible outlook and a lovely way of looking after his rider.

My daughter has successfully evented him to BE90, but he can occasionally lack confidence cross-country. We feel he would now be happiest stepping down a little and finding someone he can teach the ropes to at smaller heights. It is important to us to be completely honest about this, as we want him to go somewhere he can feel confident and enjoy his job.

Romeo would be a fantastic pony for someone wanting to enjoy Pony Club, Riding Club, show jumping, arena eventing, dressage, hacking, hunting and fun rides without wanting a hot or complicated ride.

He is also fantastic to hunt and absolutely loves it.

At home, he is good to hack alone or in company and is good to clip, load and shoe. He is a pleasure to have around and has always been a very loved member of the family.

This is an incredibly difficult sale and is only happening because my daughter now wants to move up through the levels eventing.

Romeo really is one of those ponies who has done so much for us, and finding the right next home matters far more than making a quick sale.

He does have some medical history, which will be fully disclosed to serious enquiries and has been taken into account in his price.

We are looking for a knowledgeable, 5-star home where he will be loved, appreciated and allowed to shine at the level that suits him best.

Videos and further information are available to genuinely interested homes.
