Very full up 14.2hh (takes up the leg well), 6 year old, Registered Connemara, gelding.
Billy is a quality young Connemara gelding with Class 1 breeding throughout and N/N status. Billy has all the attributes to make a super all rounder, working hunter, show pony, or grassroots competition prospect.
Billy was backed and ridden away in Ireland, where he SJ and XC schooled before being imported to the UK. On arrival he was a lot greener than his owner anticipated, so after initial groundwork with his owner he was sent to me for further education.
Over the last couple months Billy has really blossomed and come into his own. He is proving to be an extremely genuine and willing pony, happily hacking both alone and in company on the lanes and open fields. He will pootle on a long rein out hacking! He works regularly in our grass arena and has attended an arena hires and a couple shows where he always behaves impeccably.
He has recently competed at his first dressage competition, scoring an impressive 72% in an Intro test while taking the atmosphere completely in his stride. He also attended an extremely busy unaffiliated SJ competition, he jumped the 60 & 70cm placing 2nd 🥈.
Loads and travels fantastically, will happily stand quietly on the box at a show.
Billy is a lovely mover with plenty of presence. He moves straight, covers the ground well for a pony of his size, and has a naturally flashy way of going. He is clean-limbed and has all the ingredients to excel in the right home.
We believe he would make a lovely working hunter prospect.
He has jumped up to 1m single fences at home, proving extremely honest. He’s bold, brave and will take a miss (and won’t penalise you for it!). Never stops or says no, very forgiving. Jumped fillers, water treys etc training.
He is a completely different pony to the one that arrived a few months ago, however he would not suit a novice or incompetent rider. He is looking for a kind, quiet, and confident rider who understands how to ride a more sensitive pony. He has so much to give to the right person.
Billy is not particularly spooky, he is a very willing and fun pony who never says no to a new challenge.
Good to bath, shoe, handle on the ground, just had his teeth done 25/06/2026 and was well behaved (no sedation required). He’s a genuine nice person who just wants to go have fun with his person.
